Jesus' birthday present

Remember we were saving to get a present for Jesus' birthday?  One cold morning last week, Jaan, Raia and I went to the market to choose something.  There were hardly any toys left after the New Years rush, so we ended up getting something close to Raia's original idea: a basketball!  It was about all that was left, but they were very pleased with their choice.

Even though Jaan understands that we actually sent it to a needy child, he wanted to know if Jesus knows how to play basketball. Then he answered his own question, "Of course! Jesus can do anything!"

...and I am convinced there is delight in heaven over that gift of love.

You know, I had never thought about the fact that Jesus could play basketball. It opens up a whole new side to the WWJD bracelets, doesn't it? =-)
If Jesus was in the world today, would he be out on the courts ministering to the guys as they run around sweating? Would he be sharing the gospel as he completed a pass in ultimate frisbee? How would he choose to share the gospel in today's society and are seeker churches tapping in to that need? How does the church in general need to respond to the culture and how do the seeker churches learn to take their "found" to the next level?
Uh, hmmm, this is somewhat off topic, so I'll stop. Jaan's comment had my thoughts whirling. =-)

Your blog is fun and inspiring. I have decided to start a series on 1000 gifts. I am also on the AreteClassical group. Thanks for leading our lessons.

I was wondering about the gas situation too. Is it affecting your area? Will you be ok?

We haven't seen any effects of the gas problems. The heat is on hotter than ever, and our stove works just fine.
