Aunt Leetra (and fish!)

There was some recent discussion of whether or not Raia looks like my sister Leetra. What do you think? (Thanks, Mom and Dad! Leetra, I still want to see the one where you say you're making the same face as Raia makes. )

This is where I think they start to look alike. It's the blond hair and blue eyes.

Here she is now. I also posted old pictures of us. They're not nearly as good as Mom and Dad's here, but you can look, if you want.

Now, from last night:

Fish!

(No, it was not cold in here. Our neighbors had just brought over a new coat for Jaan, and he wanted to wear it all evening.)

It was so nice to have Will here for three evenings in a row! That's rare. I thought we could do our reading without him last night. It went okay, but today we'll do it in the afternoon before he leaves. It was just too chaotic. I can't both wrangle the children and read to them very well. They heard the story, and we sang "Peter, James and John in a sailboat" over and over, but it wasn't the same without Papa!

Sleeping with his fish

Jaan fell asleep with his fish clutched in one hand and his bag in the other.

Today we have:
"December 5 - A birthday candle? As you know, we are getting ready to celebrate Jesus' birthday. However, Jesus talked about something else that is related to this candle. Read: Matthew 5:14-16."

And tomorrow:
"December 6 - You could make some noise with this. But it would not have bothered a certain man--until he met Jesus. Read: Mark 7:31-37."

Hi Phyllis,
Thanks for the note on our blog and thanks for following along. Adoption is such a blessing and we are seeing the beauty in this experience as each day passes.

Yes, I think Raia definitely looks like Aunt Leetra. Especially in the picture where Leetra is at the table, using a pencil!

And Phyllis, I always thought Jaan looked like Will until I saw these! Now I see he closely resembles both of you. Isn't it amazing?

I also can see that Raia looks like her Auntie! And it is also amazing to see how kids resemble both sides of the family.
Phyllis, this is a great advent idea!

OK, I caved in and gave the candy swedish fish. :O)I like your idea much better!!! *taking notes for next year* ;-) Our little one's are enjoying this as well. I'm so glad you brought it to our attention so we could join with you on the other side of the ocean in advent.

I love the pics of you and your sister. I couldn't believe how much I saw Jaan in the pic of YOU! =)

Wow! Jaan definitely looks like what I have seen of you online!! That is amazing. And little Raia...it must be the eyes. I know your sister LOVES having a niece with such an uncanny resemblance!!!! Thanks for posting those pics. I'd like to find my daughter's birthparents one day but it may never happen. I'd like to see who she resembles most.

Dad added another (cute!) old photo of Leetra. (Click to go to it.)

Sarah, what are Swedish fish candies? So fun that we're both doing this!

i think Raia looks more like Leetra as an adult,as funny as that sounds, especially when comparing with the photo of her sitting with Jaan

The resemblance in the other pic your dad added is amazing! Also,I remember seeing your Mom's pic when they visited you all and you look a lot like her. Family resemblances are so neat! Thank you so much for sharing that with all of us!

Swedish fish are like gummy bears (shaped like fish) only better. Love the pictures and agree that the picture of you and Leetra in the rocking chair really shows the Jaan/Phyllis resemblance. I also see an R.B. connection in the drawing picture but I think it's the bowl haircut! Thanks for sharing.
