Six little-known facts

According to Mrs, I'm supposed to post six things that you might not know about me. Hmm.

  1. My first experience overseas was in Papua New Guinea, not Russia. I went there when I was 16 and loved it.
  2. I can't drive. I've never had a driver's license.
  3. I have been pregnant and/or nursing for over five years straight, without a break. (Just nursing now, thank you very much!)
  4. My ideal pet is a box turtle or tortoise.
  5. I asked Will what to say (as I sat here and ate ice cream). He says to say that I'm a closet ice cream addict. I say that's a well-known fact. See #3. I have to make rich milk, right? So I eat ice cream every day. Did you already know that?
  6. I told Julie W. this a few days ago, and she thought it was weird: I find watching snails to be wonderfully relaxing. Are there any other creatures so calm and fascinating?

They like snails, too

Now, I think I'm supposed to tag someone else. This has already gone around all my blogging friends in Florida. Is there anyone in NC who wants to tell me six facts about yourself in the comments? Someone from GBC? The NC Laura? It would be fun to get to know you more.

I didn't know about the ice cream, in fact. But I am a closet ice cream addict too - I eat some every day as well! I'd say we should join ice cream anonymous, but that would mean we WANTED to quit. And I sure don't!

Allie, you can use the milk-making excuse, too. MOO!!! :-)

I didn't know about your first Mission trip, probably because you went before we arrived in '98.

I also watch snails, but not as they're crawling up my body!

Ok, I'm not lactating, but I sure love ice cream. We have to come up with an over 40 excuse for me!

Ice cream addiction is genetic. Po and I had it(even Uncle Steve sometimes). After 40, ice cream is for osteoporosis prevention, a medical necessity.
I wish I had babushki to bring me such beautiful flowers. Thank you for all of the photos. Now that we've had a chance to have so much fun with Jaan and Raia and Asya, we miss them so much. The photos and stories help to ease our longing for more time with you all! Love, Aunt Mary Dru

Here's some things about me. Not sure if I can come up with 6. I'm pretty ordinary.

1. I'm an adoptive mom of a 10 year old born in Russia.

2. I worked as a dental hygienist up until last May (2007) and I am now a full time, homeschool mom! I still can't believe I don't punch a clock anymore!! :)

3. I used to eat tomato soup EVERY DAY. I can't believe I am admitting that. Thank goodness you all don't know me in real life. I was in my early 20's when I did that. I am currently in my upper 30's and I like to think I have graduated past that!!

4. I love reading anything on Creation. I enjoy Ken Ham's books.

5. I love antiques and going to flea markets.

6. I am jealous of Phyllis for her MIL and mother. I love to read their comments. If I had a MIL AND mother who dote on me.....I can't imagine!!!!!! You are blessed, Phyllis!

Those are interesting! My dad is addicted to ice cream too, he is in his 60's so that makes it a little more challenging for his health! I did not get that passed on to me and although I do enjoy ice cream every so often, it is is more a once in a great while thing.

i do not live in NC, and you do not know me much...so maybe this is not interesting to you at all!
#1 A dream of a vacation of mine would be to go on a mission trip overseas. I have only been to Canada and Bolivia, but I have dreamed of more all my life.
#2 I never wanted to get married- for real. Some people just say that, but I meant it, I was going to be a single missionary, but God showed me that He had a different mission field for me, one that was here in the USA.
#3 I love history and reading. I am a fast reader and can read a couple books in a day if I sit down for a couple hours.
#4
My ideal pet would be a milk cow...I do not like animals, but I do like rabbits and cows. I had a milk cow, which I bought when I was 17. A friend who became my FIL was very impressed I wanted a cow, not a car and went home to tell his son about me.
#5
I had to be forced to get my drivers license. I still do not like driving!
#6
I worked as a volunteer Ambulance worker for awhile, even while I was pregnant, until I had to stop because of rules.

Actually I think that letting snails slither up your body is a bit different not watching them. I could almost agree that it is relaxing to watch them.

Just for the record, I do not enjoy snails quite as much as my children do. :-) I said that I like watching them, not letting them crawl on my stomach!

Laura and Martha, thank you for letting me get to know you a little more! Martha, your #4 made me laugh, especially since I happen to know that your FIL is Russian.
