My new toy

A sewing machine!
Originally uploaded by fylliska.

Olga Grigorevna left her apartment to the church. This week Will and Pasha have been cleaning it out and getting it ready to be used as an office and guesthouse. And they brought me this treasure! I'm working on figuring out how to use it. It's in great shape. I'm looking forward to being able to sew again, and I love having something that belonged to Babushka Olga!

I had one of those that I got at an auction. It was very reliable and I found worked well. With your sewing skills I'm sure you'll make it sing. Enjoy.

What delight! We have so wanted you to have a sewing machine that we are thrilled for you to have this one. Is there such a thing as a still-available manual?

Rejoicing with you....

What a fantastic find. Does it run Mac OS or Windows?

Oh its so beautiful it can be enjoyed just by looking. Sometimes old manuals can be found online with a google search. I needed to find a current bobbin for my old 1960ish machine and saw several. Is it a Singer? If it is the chances are better.

So happy for you!

Oh Phyllis that is really special! I love having things from dear older people that have passed away. So very , very precious!

I love all your new photos of your sweet babies!

I recently added new photos of Maria-Angelica, if you are interested.

It's Gritzner Durlach brand. Does anyone know anything about those? I haven't been able to find a manual online. So far, I've figured out everything I need to know, but I might have trouble when the bobbin runs out.

Jaan and I made our first project yesterday: a fitted sheet for his bed.

Hi Phyllis,
In my quick search, I found one of your sewing machines on Ebay - being sold with the manuals... I wonder if the seller would make you a copy of the manual? It seemed like many other web sites have info, but most in German. Could your friend Christy in U-U find something for you when they're in Germany this fall/winter? Maybe David's relatives have something or know someone who does...
Just some thoughts. What a sweet treasure for you!
