Adventures

I'm sitting here at the internet center, sending files for Will. It's very strange. I left Jaan and Raia at home taking naps. When was the last time I could just walk quickly out to the trolleybus and hop on by myself? Have I ever done that before? It was terribly boring to ride the trolleybus all by myself! I didn't have anyone giving constant two-year-old commentary on everything we passed. (Sunday, on the way to church, the roof vents were open for the first time this summer. Jaan looked up, his eyes turned into little saucers, and he yelled, "Mama, LOOK! The roof BROKE! There's a HOLE!" I think everyone on the trolleybus laughed.) I didn't have any one jump up to give me a seat, and I didn't get a free ride for having "so many" children. So, that was my adventure for today. . . going out alone.

I also have an adventure waiting for me at home. We thought birds were starting to build a nest in the ventilation shaft in our bathroom, because of all the noise we could hear. Will was growling about it, but Jaan and I were excited. Just before I left, I got a flashlight and looked in there, because the screen was being pecked away and dirt was pouring down. The poor bird isn't building a nest. It's trapped, head down, tail up, and very angry! If it's still there tonight, Will is going to take the grating off and get it out. Just wait until Jaan gets to see that! (I can't tell you what kind of bird it is, because I don't have a dictionary here. It's something along the lines of a crow: big and black.)

That's all for now. We're leaving for Moscow at 5:00 tomorrow morning. . . .

Your bird story reminds me of something similar that happened in our kitchen vent in the apartment where we lived when you were born. Our victim was a pigeon. I'll stay tuned to read the end of your story.

Will you have any net access while you are gone?

Prayers and love....

That is always such a wierd feeling, going anywhere without the kids. I never know what to do with my arms! They feel so awkward!
