She has a name!

Anastasiya "Asya" Hunsucker
was born at 7:00, Monday morning
September 24, 2007
in Kovrov, Russia.
She weighs about 4 kgs (8 lbs, 13 oz)
and is 54 cms (21.25 inches) long.
Thank you, Lord, for this sweet baby!

Usually I think it's funny to name a baby one thing and call her another. (Hence, Raia is just Raia, not Raisa.) However, in this case I just love the sound and meaning of Anastasiya. (It's prouncounced the Russian way: Ah-nah-stah-SEE-ya, not Anna-stay-zhuh. . . и Ася, не Настя! )

There will be better photos later. . . .

By the way, all along I told Will that I wanted him to name this baby. And he still went with my favorite name choice. He's awfully nice, you know.

UPDATED: Pronounciation is AH-syah, just two syllables. You know, now we have the letter Я spelled every possible way in our family. Our children are Ян, Рая, Ася; in English that's Jaan, Raia, Asya. English is such fun.

She's beautiful!

Just so we are certain to get it right, will you give us a phonetic spelling for Asya? And since you mention liking the meaning of the name, will you divulge that as well?

Much love....

What a beautiful name! I love the Russian pronounciation too. We have a friend that uses Stacia (Sta see ah) instead of Nastia. I love your nickname АСЯ. Congratulations again.

She is beautiful! I love the name too and I am giggling bc I recently told a friend of mine that if I am ever blessed with another little girl that I was considering that as one of the names bc it is so beutiful (pronounced the Russian way of course). I will let my girls know when they awake as only one of them is up already. Okay, this being complete and wonderful, now the visas...God what do you have in store for this family?

She is BEAUTIFUL!!! And, I love the name! I had a Greek friend named Anastasia when I was in 6th grade. I thought she was the most beautiful and interesting person I knew! (Of course, I realize we were probably not pronouncing her name correctly!) Will this be AH-CEE-AH? Is that close? Lots of love! Baba Julie

Gorgeous!! Maybe it's just me, and maybe I can't remember, but Asya has a different "look" than the other two, yeah? So glad everyone is doing well. At such a nice size, it's a good thing she didn't wait two more weeks! =) Praying for the little ones as they adjust to all the change a new baby brings. What joy!
Love to all of you!

In a word: wow. I can easily imagine how soft that cheek is!

I echo your Mother in wanting the phonetic spelling of the nickname, Asya.

I LOVE the name- always have. Can I pretend that she's named after me? =-) And I agree with everyone else- she's lovely. But, I expected nothing else, since the other two are nothing but adorable. Love to all-

How precious. She fits her beautiful name. Nice job mom - 8 15! Sounds like she was more than ready to join you on the outside. Now you know why you were so exhausted with this pregnancy - Asya was growing like a weed at the datcha!

A lovely name for a lovely baby! I love the name Anastasia- it is pronounced the same way in Greek, so I said it right! ; )

Anastasi, is resurrection in Greek. Is that the same in Russian?

At Pascha everyone with the name Anastasios or Anastasia celebrates their names day- for they were name for the Resurrection of Christ. There is also a St. Anastasia, which I am sure you already know. Do the Russians you know or the ones at your church celebrate name days?

I remember you loving the name Anastasia, a few babies ago. Really a lovely choice! Congratulations on your beautiful daughter with the beautiful name of Anastasia. I am really so happy for you, Will, Jaan and Raia!!!
