Bird morning!

We got outside a little earlier than usual this morning and headed over to the park.  The morning beauty was magnificent!  The oaks are changing color, so now we have something other yellow.  The birds were frantically busy.  We watched a woodpecker up close, and enjoyed some other more common friends.  And then we saw a new bird!  Does that cause as much excitement for others, as it does in our family?

Our new bird is a Eurasian Jay.  (Click on the picture for one link, or the name for a great video.)  We followed it around for quite a while, and it didn't seem too bothered by our presence.  It was so early in the morning, that no one else was around to scare it.  Our jay was collecting acorns, just like we read that they like to do.

Enjoyed the video and quickly scanned the article...striking bird. I wonder if they are as pesky as the jays we have here.

We also find sighting a new bird to be a noteworthy event.

Much love to each precious birdwatcher....

Wow! I LOVE it!! It's so beautiful!! It sort of remind me of a Cedar Waxwing only with blue highlights! How exciting! Love!

P, looks beautiful! While your bird Eurasian Jay was gathering acorns, so was Caiden. On our walk yesterday, she pushed her Dolly in a stroller and filled it with all the acorns she found. When we got home, we counted them. 37 acorns, thank you very much! I convinced her that we needed to put them back outside because then the squirrels won't go hungry. =)

Caiden would do so well with Jaan and Raia! They're collecting acorns these days. Before this, it was каштаны (which I just looked up to find out what they are: horse chestnuts). We made a nice fall decoration by filling a jar with those. I think we'll have to do an acorn jar next.

Oh, I forgot to say, that Jaan and Raia are always collecting acorns to take and feed the squirrels the next time they go to America. :-)

You just tell them that they can hop on a plane and bring those acorns on over!! See if they can bring some food for that raccoon Raia's coming to visit, also. =-) Although, now that you've discovered fluffy-eared squirrels there, they might not be so inclined to collect for our non-fluffy eared squirrels.

I think Raia and Jaan should come now and bring their acorns! Although, I must say, I think our squirrels are pretty happy with all the pecans we feed them!! Love y'all

It is very interesting to see your jay and compare its photo to our jays. We have two different kinds in our area.

Thanks so much for the link and it is perfectly fine for the OH Challenge to use an old link. :)
